A helicopter carrying relief material for flood-affected areas has crashed in Uttarkashi in Uttarakhand. The chopper, according to news agency ANI, was flying from Mori to Modi, in Uttarkashi district. Three people were on-board the helicopter when it crashed in Uttarkashi.

Those on board when the accident happened have been identified as Pilot Lal, Co-Pilot Shailesh and a local person Rajpal.

All three have died in the accident, reported ANI quoting Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Devendra Negi. The fury of floods has affected a large part of the Uttarakhand population in recent days.

A recent cloudburst triggered by heavy rains claimed several with at least 20 people reported missing in Sanel village of Mori block in Uttarkashi district. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat visited the rain-ravaged Mori block on Tuesday to review the relief and rescue operations. At least 13 people are reported to have died in the hilly state so far.

In Himachal Pradesh, 25 people have reportedly lost their lives following the devastation caused by floods. Malayalam superstar Manju Warrier and her film crew too were among those stranded in Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister said that the actress and her crew members were rescued and being moved to safety.
