German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday received a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, ahead of her meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Merkel is on a 3 days visit to the capital city of India and Bengaluru beginning Sunday, she meets Modi under the framework of Indo-German Intergovernmental Consultations(IGC). This is the 3rd such meeting between the two nation. The earlier two meetings took place in Germany(2013) and in India(2011).
External affairs ministry spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted, “Its a Guten Morgen in Delhi as Chancellor Angela Merkel receives a ceremonial welcome at the @RashtrapatiBhvn.”

“Prime Minister Modi has outlined an ambitious programme for the development of this nation and Germany fully intends to be a partner and support it,” a statement from Merkel’s delegation said during her ceremonial welcome.
