Industrialist and former Congress MP Naveen Jindal has reacted angrily to the ‘fake news’ of him planning to join the BJP in the presence of the saffron party’s president Amit Shah.

This was after a journalist tweeted claiming that Jindal was likely to join the BJP in the presence of Shah next week. A tweet by one Aadesh Rawal, whose Twitter bio says that he works of ‘GoNews24x7,’ claimed, “Amit Shah visiting Hisar on 26th of February. Naveen Jindal may join BJP; 7-8 MLAs from different parties may also join, along with.”

Jindal, who had previously represented Kurukshetra constituency in Haryana as the Congress MP before losing his seat in 2014 parliamentary polls, reacted angrily and admonished the reporter for peddling fake news. He wrote, “This is fake news. The least you can do is to pick up the phone and check with me or my office before tweeting such gibberish. Wonder where you get your information from…”

Many of his followers on Twitter thanked Jindal for issuing a quick clarification. One user Priyank Anand wrote, “Thanks for clearing the air. Much appreciated.” Another user Shubam Sharma pleaded, “Sir, please never leave the Congress. We have immense respect for you and your family.”

This year’s Lok Sabha polls are scheduled to be held in between April and May. Jindal is once again expected to contest from Kurukshetra. He is believed to enjoy a good rapport with Congress President Rahul Gandhi and well respected by senior Congress leaders.
