Fake voter-id scam: Delhi government orders investigations against three officials

The Aam Aadmi Party-led Delhi government has ordered investigations against three state officials accused of making fake voter-id cards. Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has taken cognisance of the matter and launched investigations against one ad-hoc employee along with two other officials.

About 1250 fake voter-id cards with IPC numbers intact had been found in Dwarka Sector-13 earlier this year. The cards had been made for people in the Janakuri and Vikaspuri constituencies of Delhi.

Initial investigations had revealed that stamps and signatures of government officials had been misused in making of these voter-id cards. An FIR against LDC Satpal had also been filed in a police station.

IRO Manvinder Singh from Vikaspuri was also said to be involved in the scam. Along with him, Vikaspuri IRO Ajay Rawal was also held responsible for oversight and carelessness during investigations by the election commission.
