Exchange limits reduced from Rs 4,500 to Rs 2,000


Families can withdraw Rs 2.5 lakh per wedding from one account, said the central government on Thursday.

The government also said that farmers can withdraw up to Rs 25,000 a week.

“The government has decided to permit farmers to draw up to Rs. 25,000 per week against crop loans sanctioned and credited to their accounts,” said Economic Affairs Secretary Shaktikanta Das on Thursday.

In more announcement, the NDTV quoted the government as saying that the limit to exchanging old notes had been reduced from Rs 4,500 to Rs 2,000 once per person. This will be effective from Friday (tomorrow).

The government had recently increased the limit for exchanging old notes from Rs 4,000 to Rs 4,500.

The central government’s decision to scrap old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes had caused unspeakable misery to ordinary public. the caash withdrawal related stress has already seen the deaths of 47 people across India.
