A video message has been recorded by Karnataka Congress heavyweight DK Shivakumar and posted on his Twitter timeline alleging political vendetta by the government. In the viral video, Shivakumar is heard saying, “Political Vendetta has become more stronger than the law in this country.”
In the video, the chief troubleshooter of Congress is seen sitting on a chair while a policeman is standing next to him. He appears to have recorded this video while in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate after a Delhi court extended his ED custody till 13 September.

Shivakumar was arrested by the ED on Tuesday evening for alleged money laundering. His arrest had come after four days of grilling by the Enforcement Directorate, which said that the former Karnataka minister was not cooperating and needed to be grilled in its custody. A special court in Delhi on Wednesday had sent Shivakumar to ED custody till 13 September.
Shivakumar’s arrest had triggered widespread violent protests across Karnataka. Buses were torched and schools and colleges shut as a precautionary measure since the Congress called for a state-wide shutdown. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi wrote on Twitter, “The arrest of DK Shivakumar is another example of the vendetta politics unleashed by the Govt, using agencies like the ED/CBI & a pliant media to selectively target individuals.”
