BJP President Amit Shah on Wednesday had a disastrous morning as he appeared at his party’s newly constructed state-of-the-art headquarters in Delhi to unfurl the national flag for the Independence Day ceremony.
Shah was left red-faced after he failed to hoist the tricolour as the national flag dropped to the floor, leaving everyone shell-shocked. Not only did the embarrassing development leave those present at the ceremony shocked, but also the Doordarshan News commentator, who could not hold his natural reaction ‘tch, tch, tch’ before uttering the word ‘disaster.’
An eagle-eyed Twitter used posted the video with a sarcastic caption that the commentator’s reaction may cost him dearly in future. He wrote, “Wishing a healthy and long life for the DD news commentator who could not hold back his “tch tch tch… Disaster…” remark upon seeing this performance by BJP’s national president.”

Journalist Rohini Singh concluded, “Amit Shah is clearly not having a good day!”
The DD news commentator, however, earned praise for his natural reaction. One Twitter user said, “The commentary is absolutely gold.” Another user, whose profile photo had the Congress symbol, said, “He will be fired.” One Twitter user wrote, “Even the tricolour doesn’t want to be unfurled by Amit Shah.”
Doordarshan is India’s public broadcaster.
Elsewhere, Prime Minister Narendra Modi faced criticism for getting his facts wrong during his Independence Day speech. What was embarrassing that those pointing out the glaring mistake in his speech also included one of his Rajya Sabha MPs, Subramanian Swamy.
