Aam Aadmi Party leader Ashutosh on Tuesday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not reacting on the Dadri incident during which a man was lynched following rumour that he had consumed beef.

Ashutosh tweeted, “Today is eighth day of the Dadri incident, prime minister has not spoken. Nation does not know what he feels and is he against such incidents?”

In his tweets, the AAP legislator said that no religion could be given permission to shatter the nation’s trust.

“MHA says zero tolerance to communal incidence, why then no action has been taken Ag (sic) BJP/SP/leaders, giving provocative statements?” he said in a series of tweets.

On 28 September, 50-year-old Mohammed Akhlaq, a resident of Bisara village of Dadri in Greater Noida near Delhi, was dragged out of his home and lynched following rumours that he consumed beef.

The family has denied the allegations. Akhlaq’s 21-year-old son Danish was critically injured in the attack.
