VHP condemns Dadlani’s remarks on ‘nude’ monk Tarun Sagar

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad today condemned Bollywood composer and playback singer Vishal Dadlani for his tweet criticising the recent visit by a Jain monk to the Haryana Assembly.

“VHP strongly condemns the frivolous and insulting remarks by Vishal Dadlani and his likes. It has become a fashion to ridicule everything that is part of India’s ancient religious and cultural heritage.

In the name of freedom of expression, demeaning people’s faith can not be tolerated,” VHP international working President Pravin Togadia said in a statement.

“We laud the Haryana Assembly for inviting Jain Munishri Tarun Sagar Maharaj, whose pearls of wisdom will undoubtedly inspire the members of the House. The VHP has tremendous respect for revered Jain monks,” Togadia said.

Dadlani had created a furore with his tweet against Jain monk Tarun Sagar who was invited by the Haryana government to deliver a lecture ‘Kadve Vachan’ in the Assembly on Friday.

He later deleted the tweet and apologised for hurting the sentiments of the Jain community even as the Ambala police registered an FIR against him and booked him for “hurting religious sentiments”.

Meanwhile, Tarun Sagar has reportedly forgiven Dadlani saying his remark may have come out of ignorance about the tradition followed by Digambar Jain monks who did not wear any clothes.
