A whistle-blower has made stunning claims that the Madhya Pradesh chief minister, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, had offered to cancel his transfer in exchange of stopping his campaign over Vyapam scam.

Dr Anand Rai submitted an affidavit before the Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh’s High Court claiming that Chauhan had ‘called him at official residence in the state capital on 11 August for this purpose.

According to Dr Rai, the chief minister allegedly asked him to drop his campaign against Chauhan and his family members.

The affidavit (see below) adds that the meeting between him and Chauhan lasted for an hour.

Both Dr Anand Rai and his doctor wife were recently transferred from Indore to Dhar and they allege that this was done at the behest of the chief minister because of his campaign in Vyapam.

A senior in the MP government confirmed that the meeting had indeed taken placed but clarified that it was organised at the request of Dr Rai.

Indian Express quoted Principal Secretary to CM, S K Mishra as saying that Rai ‘wanted to share some information about the scam with the chief minister and sought a meeting.’
