A police jawan, who was abducted by Naxals two days ago, was found murdered on Wednesday in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Bijapur district.

Bijapur additional superintendent of police, Indira Kalyan Elesela said that the body of 31-year-old assistant constable Pandu Ram Kudiyam was found on a road under Farsegarh Police Station limits, near the place from where he was kidnapped on Monday.

Soon after getting information that the body was lying abandoned on the road that passes thorough a restive dense forested patch, security forces were rushed to the spot to recover it, he said.

According to a PTI report, rebels had abducted Kudiyam on Monday while he was returning from Palmendri village after attending last rites of her mother-in-law.

A case has been registered in this connection, the ASP said, adding that a hunt has been launched to trace the assailants. He also said that a preliminary investigation found that he was killed with sharp-edged weapons.

On 14 July this year, four assistant constables were kidnapped by Naxals and killed next day in Bijapur district.
