A BSP MLA has made a shocking allegation claiming that the BJP had approached her offering a post of minister and Rs 50-60 crore in a bid to bring down the Congress government headed Chief Minister Kamal Nath.

BSP MLA Ramabai Singh was quoted by news agency ANI, “They (BJP) are making offers to everyone, only fools will come under their influence. I get phone calls offering both Minister berth & money but I have denied the offers. They are offering Rs 50-60 crore to a number of people.”

The BSP had won two seats in the 2018 assembly polls with the Congress winning 114 out of 230 seats in the state assembly. The Congress had formed the government with the help of two BSP MLAs, ending the 15-year-old rule of the BJP. Since then, the party has accused the BJP of making several attempts to bring down its government. On 21 May, Chief Minister Kamal Nath had said that ‘at least 10 MLAs told me that they are getting calls and are being enticed with offers of money and positions.’

Ramabai said that money wasn’t everything and the ‘good thing is that Kamal Nath government must stay.’

In the just concluded Lok Sabha polls, the BJP won 28 out of 29 parliamentary seats in the state.
