Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is currently on a two-day visit to the UAE, has thanked the people of Madhya Pradesh on ‘reposing their trust’ in the BJP government led by Shivraj Singh Chauhan.

PM Modi’s tweet said;

The results for the civic body polls were announced on Sunday. Despite the allegations of corruption agaist the chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan in Vyapam scam, the BJP managed to wrest eight municipal bodies from the Congress, which could retain only one.

BJP now holds all 16 municipal corporations in Madhya Pradesh.

(I had removed the stigma of sick state from Madhya Pradesh but Congress worked towards associating this state with corruption. But I would like to thank the people of Madhya Pradesh for defeating their purpose.)

The BJP under Chauhan had won the assembly elections in 2013 with huge majority for the third time in a row. The state also gave 27 of its 29 Parliamentary seats to the BJP in the last Lok Sabha elections in 2014.
