Police in Bihar say that they have arrested a civil servant working in the state election department for sharing a communal post against Muslims on WhatsApp. The arrested officer has been identified as Alok Kumar.

“Alok Kumar, a deputy secretary posted in the state election department, has been arrested for posting an objectionable post in a WhatsApp group. Further legal action is being taken,” Sanjay Singh ADG, Law & Order, was quoted by ANI.
A resident of Patna, Kumar is an officer from the Bihar Public Service Commission and is currently posted as a deputy secretary in the election department.
He had shared an objectionable post about an elderly Muslim man on WhatsApp, which the police say could disturb the communal harmony in the state.
Bihar was relatively calm when the countrywide protests took place against the objectionable remarks on Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma earlier this month.
