Bhupendra Patel has been named the leader of the new chief minister of Gujarat days after Vijay Rupani resigned from his post. The BJP once again ignoring the name of Nitin Patel caused a hilarious meme fest on social media.
55-year-old Patel is a first-time MLA from Gujarat’s Ghatlodiya constituency. According to reports, he was unanimously elected the leader of the BJP’s legislative party in Gandhinagar on Saturday.
Earlier, Gujarat’s deputy chief minister, Nitin Patel, was widely tipped to succeed Rupani. The BJP’s decision to once again ignore Nitin Patel triggered meme fest on Twitter.

Rupani’s sudden resignation had left everyone stunned. Many felt that the BJP was not comfortable in facing the next assembly polls under Rupani.
Reacting to media after his resignation, Rupani had said, “I’m grateful to the honourable prime minister for giving me an opportunity to be a part of Gujarat’s development journey in the last five years. I believe that this journey of development should go ahead under a new leadership guided by the prime minister.”
Before Rupani’s resignation, three more BJP chief ministers including BS Yediyurappa in Karnataka, Tirath Singh Rawat and Trivendra Rawat in Uttarakhand were forced to resign from their posts by the BJP leadership.
