Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has confirmed that he was suffering from kidney problem and certain other infections.
Jaitley took to Twitter to announce, “I am being treated for kidney related problems & certain infections that I have contracted. I am therefore currently working from controlled environment at home. The future course of my treatment would be determined by the doctors treating me.”

Janta Ka Reporter had reported on Thursday morning how the news of his health problem had become a topic of an intense conversations in the political circle in Delhi. Speculations on Jaitley’s health gained fresh momentum after he failed to take oath of office in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
The 65-year-old minister is reported to be suffering from renal failure and may have to travel abroad for kidney transplant. A report by National Herald said that Jaitley, who underwent bariatric surgery three years ago, took a long time to recover from it. Suffering from acute diabetes, he has not been keeping in the best of health.
Meanwhile, politicians cutting across the party lines and social media users had wished him speedy recovery. The news of Jaitley’s bad health came just weeks after another prominent BJP leader and Goa chief minister, Manohar Parrikar, was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer.
Parrikar flew to the US in March and is still undergoing treatment there. On 26 March, a report by PTI said that Parrikar was to begin his second phase of treatment at a hospital in the United States.
