Another AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan in police custody, Okhla MLA surrenders at Jamia Nagar Police Station

Another AAP MLA, Amanatullah Khan, has been taken into custody by Delhi Police. The Okhla MLA reportedly surrendered beforethe Jamia Nagar Police Station on Wednesday.

This was after Delhi Police took VK Jain, Delhi Chief Minister’s advisor, into its custody in the alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash case. This came just hours after the cops had taken AAP MLA Prakash Jarwal into custody in connection with the same case.

Jain was taken in police custody for questioning from his residence in Maharani Bagh. He was later released. Prakash, in his complaint, had alleged that it was Jain, who called him several times on the phone asking him to come to the residence of Kejriwal.

Sources in Delhi Police said that more AAP MLAs and functionaries were expected to be arrested.

The alleged attack on Prakash has snowballed into a full-blown controversy with government servants at Delhi Secretariat resorting to alleged violence on Tuesday. AAP leader Ashish Khetan and Imran Husain, a cabinet minister in the Kejriwal government, had alleged physical assault by the government servants, who, they claimed, wanted to avenge the alleged assault on Prakash.

The video of some unidentified persons at Delhi’s Secretariat chanting ‘maro, maro (beat him up)’ had gone viral on social media platforms. Husain had later filed a police complaint with the Indraprastha Police station alleging that the government officers had held him captive inside the government officers.

AAP had denied Parakash’s allegations even as Home Rajnath Singh sought a detailed report on Monday night’s alleged developments.

Jarwal, for his part has move the SC/ST commission alleging that the Delhi chief secretary had used abusive and insulting terms for Dalits.
