1st All Women Trans Continental Road Expedition flagged off from New Delhi

Union Minister of Chemical and Fertilizers, Ananth Kumar and Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Youth Affairs & Sports Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday evening flagged off first All-Women Trans Continental Road Expedition from Delhi to London.

The journey, which is first of its kind, started at Major Dhyanchand Stadium, from where the three women participating in the expedition will reach United Kingdom in 55 days via Myanmar, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium and France.

Speaking on the occasion, Sonowal said, “The Ministry has always supported new exploration and initiatives by the youth of this country, encouraging them to go beyond their limitations, push against artificial boundaries and reach new destinations.

“The expedition demonstrates grit and courage of Indian women,” he added.

“The expedition symbolizes the spirit of adventure of Indian women. It will encourage younger people especially young girls and women to feel inspired and undertake such explorations, thereby making the participants of the events, role models for all,” added Ananth Kumar.

‘Women beyond Boundaries’ is an initiative that encourages and empowers women drivers to explore new territories. Under the program three drivers — Nidhi Tiwari, Rashmi Koppar and Soumaya Goel — will cover a distance of 15,000 kms, covering 14 countries in 55 days.
