भाला फेंक एथलीट नीरज चोपड़ा ने शनिवार को टोक्यो ओलंपिक में स्वर्ण पदक जीतकर इतिहास रच दिया है। हरियाणा के खांद्रा गांव के एक किसान के बेटे नीरज ने अपने दूसरे प्रयास में 87.58 मीटर भाला फेंककर दुनिया को स्तब्ध कर दिया और भारतीयों को जश्न में डुबा दिया। उनकी इस कामयाबी पर पूरा देश गर्व महसूस कर रहा है। नीरज चोपड़ा की जीत पर भारतवासी उन्हें बधाई दे रहे हैं। पीएम मोदी समेत कई दिग्गज नेताओं व बॉलीवुड सिलेब्स ने भी उन्हें शुभकामनाएं दी हैं।
23 साल के नीरज चोपड़ा ने ऐतिहासिक स्वर्ण पदक जीतने के बाद कहा, ‘विश्वास नहीं हो रहा। पहली बार है जब भारत ने एथलेटिक्स में स्वर्ण पदक जीता है इसलिये मैं बहुत खुश हूं। हमारे पास अन्य खेलों में ओलंपिक का एक ही स्वर्ण है।’ उन्होंने कहा, ‘एथलेटिक्स में यह हमारा पहला ओलंपिक पदक है। यह मेरे और देश के लिये गर्व का क्षण है।’
यह पूछने पर कि क्या वह स्वर्ण पदक जीतकर हैरान थे जिसमें जर्मनी के महान एथलीट योहानेस वेटर भी शामिल थे। उन्होंने कहा, ‘क्वालीफिकेशन राउंड में मैंने काफी अच्छा थ्रो फेंका था इसलिये मैं जानता था कि मैं फाइनल में बेहतर कर सकता हूं।’ उन्होंने कहा, ‘लेकिन मैं नहीं जानता कि यह स्वर्ण होगा लेकिन मैं बहुत खुश हूं।’
नीरज चोपड़ा के जैवलिन थ्रो में गोल्ड मेडल जीतने पर हरियाणा के मुख्यमंत्री मनोहर लाल खट्टर ने कहा कि, टोक्यो में हरियाणा के छोरे ने लठ गाड़ दिया और भाले वाला लठ गाड़ दिया। अपेक्षा के अनुरूप हमें गोल्ड मिला। उन्होंने आगे कहा, जिस प्रकार से आज हमने प्रत्यक्ष मैच देखा, ये बहुत खुशी का पल है। ये बहुत बड़ी उपलब्धि है, देश के लिए उपलब्धि है, हरियाणा के लिए उपलब्धि है। उन्हें 6 करोड़ रुपये और क्लास-1 की नौकरी दी जाएगी।
नीरज चोपड़ा की इस सफलता के साथ भारत 1 स्वर्ण, 2 रजत और चार कांस्य के साथ टोक्यो ओलंपिक का समापन करेगा। टोक्यो में नीरज ने जो किया है वह ऐतिहासिक है क्योंकि इससे पहले भारत को ओलंपिक में एथलेटिक्स इवेंट्स में कभी कोई पदक नहीं मिला।
