पंजाब में अमृतसर के निकट शुक्रवार(19 अक्टूबर) की शाम रावण दहन देखने के लिए रेल पटरियों पर खड़े लोगों के ट्रेन की चपेट में आने से करीब 61 लोगों की मौत हो गई जबकि 72 अन्य घायल हो गए। ट्रेन जालंधर से अमृतसर आ रही थी तभी जोड़ा फाटक पर यह हादसा हुआ। मौके पर कम से कम 300 लोग मौजूद थे जो पटरियों के निकट एक मैदान में रावण दहन देख रहे थे।
फोटो: NDTVमीडिया रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक मौत का यह आंकड़ा अभी बढ़ भी सकता है। अधिकारियों ने बताया कि रावण दहन और पटाखे फूटने के बाद भीड़ में से कुछ लोग रेल पटरियों की ओर बढ़ने लगे जहां पहले से ही बड़ी संख्या में लोग खड़े होकर रावण दहन देख रहे थे। उन्होंने बताया कि उसी वक्त दो विपरीत दिशाओं से एक साथ दो ट्रेनें आईं और लोगों को बचने का बहुत कम समय मिला।
इस घटना के बाद मौके पर चीख-पुकार मच गई, बदहवास लोग अपने करीबियों को तलाशने लगे। क्षत-विक्षत शव घटना के घंटों बाद भी घटनास्थल पर पड़े थे क्योंकि नाराज लोग प्रशासन को शव हटाने नहीं दे रहे थे। कई शवों की पहचान भी नहीं हो सकी, जमीन पर क्षत-विक्षत शव पड़े हुए थे। लोगों ने स्थानीय विधायक नवजोत कौर सिद्धु के खिलाफ नारेबाजी की जो रावण दहन कार्यक्रम के दौरान मुख्य अतिथि के तौर पर वहां मौजूद थीं।
राष्ट्रपति रामनाथ कोविंद, प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी सहित तमाम नेताओं ने हादसे में लोगों की मौत पर दुख व्यक्त किया है। वहीं, पंजाब सरकार ने शनिवार(20 अक्टूबर) को एक दिन के शोक का ऐलान किया है। दफ्तर और शिक्षण संस्थान शनिवार को बंद रहेंगे।
मुख्यमंत्री अमरिंदर सिंह ने घटना की जांच के आदेश दिये हैं। पंजाब सरकार ने मृतकों के परिजनों के लिये पांच-पांच लाख रूपये के मुआवजे का भी ऐलान किया है। मुख्यमंत्री ने दुर्घटना में घायल हुए सभी लोगों के लिए मुफ्त इलाज की घोषणा की है।
बता दें कि इस हादसे से बॉलीवुड स्टार्स को भी झटका लगा है। सभी सेलेब्स इस मामले पर ट्वीट कर दुख जता रहे हैं।
