A video of farmer leader Rakesh Tikait lashing out at an anchor working for Rajat Sharma’s India TV for allegedly pushing the BJP’s divisive agenda has gone viral on social media.
In the video, Tikait is seen giving a dressing down to India TV employee Saurabh Sharma for mischievously pushing the BJP’s communal agenda ahead of the polls.
What angered Tikait was the India TV’s mischief as he noticed how Rajat Sharma-owned channel had inserted a giant-size photo of Ram Temple even though the interview was meant to be with a farmer leader.
Tikait asked, “What compulsions do you have to show this (photo of Ram temple)? Who are you campaigning for? Whose orders are you following?”
While India TV anchor Saurabh Sharma struggled to come up with a meaningful justification, Tikait shouted, “Will you now show mandir and masjid? You can’t show this. You TV channels cannot campaign for a political party.”
To hide his embarrassment, the anchor told the farmer leader that he could not shout at him. He ran to the wall to point out the title of the programme, “Who’s the chief minister for farmers?”
However, the India TV anchor could not explain why he had chosen to display the photo of the Ram Temple underneath that title.
Tikait continued with his tirade, “These TV channels are determined to destroy the country.”

A visibly red-faced India TV anchor said that Tikait had no right to shout at him adding that he too hailed from Western Uttar Pradesh.
Uttar Pradesh goes to polls in seven stages with the counting of votes scheduled to take place on 10 March.
