Aneeshwar Kunchala, a seven-year-old school boy of Indian origin, on Friday night created history by reaching the final of Britain’s Got Talent. He will be fighting for the BGT 2022 title with comedian Azel Blake, who left the audience and judges spellbound with his hilarious jokes in the semi-final performance. What earned young Aneeshwar plaudits from audience and judges alike was his act whereby he recited poetry about the environment with a video playing in the background about his tale. The young talent said that he would showcase an upgraded version in the final on Sunday.

Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon all voted in favour of Aneeshwar, who needed just three judges to vote him to secure a place in the final. As for Simon Cowell, he said he was going to vote for both Aneeshwar and Welsh of the West End.

Other finalists include Maxwell Thorpe, Jamie Leahey, Ben Nickless, Flintz & T4ylor, Tom Ball, Eva Abley, Loren Allred and 5 Star Boys.

Who is Aneeshwar Kunchala?

Born to Indian parents, Aneeshwar shot to fame during the lockdown when he started making videos on wildlife and nature. This caught the imagination of British media and catapulted him to stardom. Soon he started making appearances on national media in the UK including the BBC. He appeared on BBC Breakfast show with his father Anil in 2021.

Aneeshwar’s father hails from Andhra Pradesh, while his mother is from Hyderabad. His father said that when he asked his son at the age of four what he wanted to do, young Aneeshwar said he wanted to do bird watching. He was moved by a video showed by a teacher on the havoc wreaked by plastic pollution. This, according to his father, prompted him to do his bit about environmental conservation.

His YouTube page says, “I am 6 years old, keen conservationist, on a big mission to protect wildlife and raise awareness. I believe that we are not too young or too old to make a difference. Watch Aneeshwar website to know more about the projects I’m working on!!”

Aneeshwar says Steve Backshall and David Attenborough are his role models. Aneeshwar lives in Warrington, which is a town in England, between Liverpool and Manchester.

How have Twitterati reacted?

The reaction on Twitter has been mixed with some saying that the musical group from Walse deserved to be in the final more than Aneeshwar, who got the judges’ votes because of his cuteness.
