Krunal Pandya on Tuesday became the scorer of the fastest fifty on debut when he achieved the feat in just 26 balls. His knock of 58 runs scored in just 31 balls immensely contributed to India’s spectacular comeback to beat England by 66 runs. After the match, Krunal and his brother Hardik Pandya wrote gut-wrenching notes in memory of their father, Himanshu Pandya, who passed away in January this year.

Taking to Twitter, Krunal wrote, “Papa, with every ball you were always on my mind and in my heart. Tears rolled down my face as I felt your presence with me. Thank you for being my strength, for being the biggest support I’ve had. I hope I made you proud. This is for you Papa, everything we do is for you Papa.”

Hardik too wrote, “Papa would be proud. He’s smiling down on you bhai and sent an early birthday gift for you. You deserve the world and more. I couldn’t be happier for you bhai. This one is for you Papa.”

Several cricketers including Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar had condoled the death of Himanshu Pandya in January this year. Krunal Pandya, who was playing in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Vadodara, left the bio-bubble created for players to be with his family. He was leading the Baroda team in the competition.
