Socialite and marketing consultant Suhel Seth on Wednesday faced the heat of what’s being termed as India’s own MeToo movement after a film director accused him of sexual harassment.
The woman, Natashja Rathore, posted the screenshots of her ordeal on Twitter with a caption, ” I am not doing this for publicity. I am not doing this for Money. I am not doing this to malign a person. I am doing this solely to empower other women to directly confront the perpetrator. It’s hard – But it’s about time. This is my #MeToo message to Suhel Seth.”
Part 1: I am not doing this for publicity. I am not doing this for Money. I am not doing this to malign a person. I am doing this solely to empower other women to directly confront the perpetrator. It’s hard – But it’s about time. This is my #MeToo message to Suhel Seth. pic.twitter.com/h1Z4VCBoq7

Rathore shared the screenshots of her WhatsApp conversation that she had sent to Seth. She recalled how she had met Suhel Seth in her office. She wrote, ” I was at my workplace and was I was told my by (sic) boss at that time “Go and say Hi to Suhel. Try and get him to tweet.”
She continued, “That’s when I approached you. After a few drinks, you insisted we go to Janpath to eat ice-cream. I declined 2 times. Went to the extent of saying “No, I’ve had enough to drink I’m going to go to bed.” “Just come” you said…. so I thought- Why not. I had been in Delhi long enough and I had never been to Janpath.”
But, the woman alleged that instead of going to Janpath, Seth allegedly took her home. She wrote, “You used your power to take me home instead… You then threw yourself at me although I was clearly uncomfortable. You shoved your tongue in my throat even when I resisted — I whacked your head and said ‘behave yourself’. You put your hand into my kurta and grabbed my breast.”

Rathore added that she managed to stop Seth and went to the washroom. She sarcastically thanked Seth for not raping her that night.
“Thank you for not raping me that night. Thank you for sending your driver to drop me home… Over time, I’ve learnt to manage you. But no woman should ever have to ‘manage’ the misuse of power and ‘manage’ being sexually assaulted,” she added.
She then said that Seth had abused his power for years on end. “With what I’ve seen at a close range, if every woman you’ve ever laid hands on starts to speak up, I assure you, there will be at least 1,000 women who will say Suhel Seth? Yes. #MeToo. It ends here,” she added.
Seth has not commented on the allegations yet. This story will be updated after he reacts on the allegations.
Another woman, a journalist, also alleged that Seth had long ‘preyed on young women, and the whisper network was ripe with stories of his depravity’ adding that she too was sexually harassed by him when she was 26.
She wrote, “I am not at all surprised that Suhel Seth’s name has come up in the #MeToo conversation. For years he has preyed on young women, and the whisper network was ripe with stories of his depravity. I was 26 when he publicly harassed and humiliated me. No one stopped him. It was July 2011, and I had just quit my job at the @IndianExpress. I had taken on a freelance assignment to transcribe speeches at a conference, just to pay the bills until I started at a new job a few months later. The conference was at the Taj Aguada hotel in Goa.”

Journalist Mandakini Gahlot wrote that Seth had once forcibly kissed her in Goa after she refused his invitation to check out his cottage suite, which had Jacuzzi in it. She wrote, “I finished my drink and was saying bye to the people in that group, when Suhel reached out – I figured for a quick hug – and planted a big sloppy kiss on my mouth, I felt his tongue inside my mouth. I was so stunned and I said something like Suhel, you can’t do that.”
