Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik on Tuesday came out in the open to defend his wife Sania Mirza amidst the raging controversy over the Indian tennis star’s alleged role in spoiling the performance of Pakistani cricketers. Taking to Twitter, Malik denied that his wife had taken her out for a late night dinner on the eve of the crucial India-Pakistan tie.
He wrote, “When will Pak media be accountable for their credibility by our courts?! Having served my country for +20 years in Intl Cricket, it’s sad that I have to clarify things related to my personal life. The videos are from 13th June and not 15th.”

His subsequent tweet read, “On behalf of all athletes I would like to request media and people to maintain respect levels in regards to our families, who should not be dragged into petty discussions at will. It’s not a nice thing to do.”

Sania had faced the wrath of Pakistani fans, who accused her of being an India mole. This had led to a Twitter spat between Sania and former Bigg Boss contestant Veena Malik.
No sooner did Shoaib his tweet, critical of the Pakistani media, social media users from his country began to mercilessly troll him with some even using abusive languages against the star Pakistani player.
