Reliance Industries Limited has termed the reports of Nita Ambani’s appointment as a visiting professor at the Banaras Hindu University fake after several media reports claimed that a group of students had staged in the BHU campus against the appointment of Mukesh Ambani’s wife.

Quoting an RIL spokesperson, news agency ANI reported that reports of Nita Ambani being appointed a visiting lecturer at Banaras Hindu University were are fake. “She hasn’t received an invitation from BHU,” the spokesperson was quoted as saying.
The BHU too said that the university administration had not ‘issued a notice or given the appointment of a visiting professor to Nita Ambani, in any faculty/department/centre in the University.’
This was after several reports emerged how a group of BHU students had staged protests in the campus registering their outrage against Nita Ambani’s appointment. Shubham Tiwari, one of the protesting students, was quoted by news agency PTI as saying that instead of Ambani, those who have set an example of women empowerment should be invited.
Prof Nidhi Sharma, coordinator of the Centre for Women’s Studies and Development, had reportedly said that the proposal to make Nita Ambani a visiting professor has been sent to the authorities. “Ambani is a woman entrepreneur. If she joins our centre, the women of Purvanchal will get the benefit of her experience,” Sharma was quoted by news agency PTI.
According to reports, Gautam Adani’s wife Priti Adani and Lakshmi Mittal’s wife Usha Mittal too were considered for the posts of visiting lecturers.
Soon Nita Ambani became a top trend on Twitter with users registering their outrage over the university’s move. Here’s how they reacted;

Nita Ambani, with https://t.co/V01pse4CMA degree as Visiting Professor? Modi Govt believes you need money for teaching, not education.
