Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra has approached the Bombay High Court challenging his arrest by the Mumbai Police in the porn film racket case.
The petition by the Kundra, according to the Livelaw website, read, “Notice in the matter where FIR is registered on 05.02.2021, the Charge sheet is filed on 03.04.2021 and they could have easily served notice and could have allowed the Petitioner to appear and give his statement and if the Petitioner failed to do so the consequences would have followed. However, if the Petitioner did appear then under Section 41A (3) he should not be arrested at all, is the mandate of law.”
The Mumbai Police had arrested Kundra in the porn film racket case. He’s accused of producing and distributing pornography through a piad mobile phone app, Hotshot. The Mumbai Police, according to news agency PTI, has alleged that they had stumbled upon many WhatsApp chats that proved that Kundra was involved in the financial dealings of the mobile phone app that hosted alleged porn films.
Kundra has been booked under 354(C) (Voyeurism), 292 (sale of obscene content), 420(cheating) of the IPC and Sections 67, 67A (transmission of sexually explicit material) of the IT Act.
The Mumbai Police had earlier arrested model-actor Gehana Vasisth in February this year in the same porn film racket case. They had come reportedly suspected Kundra’s role in the racket back in February but did not have conclusive evidence to arrest him.
Soon after Kundra’s arrest, Gehana issued a video message in his defence saying that she was only shooting for erotica and not porn.
