Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees has beaten Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil with the first day’s earnings at the box office.

Bollywood trade analyst, Taran Adarsh, posted the first day’s collections of both the films adding that while SRK’s Raees had collected Rs 20.42 crore on Wednesday, Hrithik’s Kaabil was only able to earn Rs 10.43 crore.

Adrash tweeted, “#Raees has a FANTASTIC Day 1… Wed ₹ 20.42 cr… Today [Thu; Republic Day] will witness HUMONGOUS biz again.”

On Kaabil’s collection, Adarsh tweeted, “#Kaabil Wed ₹ 10.43 cr… Biz should escalate today [Thu; Republic Day].”

SRK, for his part, told Adarsh that his prediction was right.

He said, “Aapne sahi kaha tha (You had correctly predicted).”

Both Raees and Kaabil were released on Wednesday. Their release had caused plenty of controversy with Hrithik publicly confessing that the clash of dates had left his father, Rakesh Roshan, hurt.

He had said, “My father plans his life very well. He was also very careful. ‘Kaabil’ was about to get over in October. But he did not want to release it in November or December last year as the dates were already taken by someone else and it would not have been fair. He decided to go to January as he didn’t want to put any other producer in distress.”

Hrithik’s last film “Mohenjo Daro” clashed with “Rustom” and things did not turn out well for the actor with the big budget period drama failing at the box office.

While the Sanjay Gupta-directed film will have both Hrithik and Yami Gautam playing visually challenged characters, “Raees” directed Rahul Dholakia revolves around a Gujarati bootlegger (SRK). Pakistani actor Mahira Khan plays his love interest and Nawazuddin Siddiqui plays a cop in the film.
