Akshay Kumar must be a dejected man as his propaganda and efforts to promote hate amongst Indian communities failed to result in high box office numbers for Prithviraj. The much-publicised film has now officially bombed at the box office as it only managed to earn Rs. 2.75 crore on the seventh day of its release. This effectively means that Prithviraj, which was made at the cost of Rs. 300 crore has only earned Rs. 55 crore since its release.
In another blow to Akshay, even the trade analyst, who had predicted Prithviraj to be a huge commercial success, has now concluded that the film has been on a downward slide. One such ‘trade analyst’ is Taran Adarsh, who wrote on Instagram, “#SamratPrithviraj continues to struggle… Biz at the national [multiplex] chains is dull… Eyes ₹ 55.5 cr [+/-] total in *Week 1*… Fri 10.70 cr, Sat 12.60 cr, Sun 16.10 cr, Mon 5 cr, Tue 4.25 cr, Wed 3.60 cr. Total: ₹ 52.25 cr. #India biz.”

The news of Prithviraj bombing at the box office came amidst reports of theatres cancelling the film’s screenings after the occupancy was reduced to a single digit. Janta Ka Reporter had earlier reported how angry fans had lashed out at Akshay Kumar for indulging in propaganda in the film.
Prithviraj also saw the acting debut of former Miss World Manushi Chhillar. But she too has failed to impress movie fans in India.
While promoting the film, Akshay had made a series of religiously divisive comments in a bid to pit Hindus against Muslims. This was widely viewed as Akshay’s attempt to woo Hindus to watch his film. Akshay may have hoped for a repeat of how Kashmir Files received the support of Hindus in India recently.
Several BJP governments had accorded tax-free status to Akshay Kumar’s film. But it seems even that was not sufficient to save his film.
