Akshay Kumar’s Prithviraj has continued to face a downward trend at the box office as the film left fans seething. Angry fans were seen lashing out at Akshay, while many theatres decided to cut down on shows after many theatres went empty in parts of the country.
The film had collected little more than Rs. 10 crore on the first day of its release. The collection saw a marginal rise over the weekend, taking the film’s overall business to Rs. 39 crore in the first three days of its release. However, the business nosedived on Monday when Prithviraj earned only Rs. 5 crore. The box office collection on day 5 is believed to be around Rs. 4 crore, taking the overall business to Rs. 48 crore. This is a disaster for the Akshay Kumar-starrer film given that its budget was Rs. 300 crore.
Angry fans have lashed out at Akshay for indulging in propaganda in the film. One woman was heard saying, “Akshay Kumar did not impress in the film at all and Manushi Chhillar was very bad.”
“Pathetic. First, they wrongly represented Prithviraj in the film,” said another man after watching the film. Another woman said, “They’ve completely changed the film. The scene where he kills Ghouri is wrong. Akshay is seen killing Ghouri at the seventh floor. He doesn’t know anything about Prithviraj.”
Even Taran Adarsh, a Bollywood trade analyst, who had declared the film a blockbuster on the day of its release, has now changed his tune as he tweeted, ‘#SamratPrithviraj has a sharp decline on Day 4 [Mon]… Should’ve scored in double digits or thereabouts to make up for unsatisfactory biz on Day 1 and 2… Biz at national chains remains dull… Fri 10.70 cr, Sat 12.60 cr, Sun 16.10 cr, Mon 5 cr. Total: ₹ 44.40 cr. #India biz.”
Adarash had earlier tweeted, “#OneWordReview…#SamratPrithviraj: ENTHRALLING. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½ Captivating film that has scale, conflict, drama, romance, battle sequences and SOUL… Director Dr #ChandraprakashDwivedi narrates an epic tale with flourish… DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THIS FILM.”
Finally #PrithvirajChauhan movie made people more disappointed and seems like the movie has hopeless too….#PrithvirajReview #AkshayKumar @akshaykumar pic.twitter.com/g6hxfpfc1F

In contrast, Kamal Haasan’s Vikram has now crossed Rs. 2002 crore mark even though the film was released the same day as Prithviraj.
Prithviraj stars Akshay Kumar, Manushi Chhillar, Sonu Sood, Sanjay Dutt, Sanjay Dutt and Manav Vij among others.
