Nobel laureate Malala forces Shah Rukh Khan to say yes for Oxford event after 2 years of ‘wait’

Nearly two years ago, one of the principals of the Oxford University had approached Shah Rukh Khan requesting him to come and speak to students at LMH College. Shah Rukh Khan did not respond to the Twitter request for two years until Nobel laureate Malala personally requested King Khan on Sunday forcing him to say yes.

In 2016, Alan Rusbridger had tweeted tagging Shah Rukh, “can we tempt to to Oxford University to talk to our students at @lmhoxford? They love you (I’m the principal).” Rusbridger, who was the editor of London’s The Guardian before he quit journalism to join Oxford University, did not hear from Shah Rukh.

On Sunday, Malala quoted Rusbridger’s old tweet and wrote, “Still waiting!!!! @iamsrk ?” Within minutes of Malala posting the tweet, Shah Rukh responded, “Most certainly would love to do it & meeting u will be a privilege. Will put my team to schedule it sooner than soon.”

Not many know that Malala Yusufzai, who is now a student at Oxford University, is an ardent fan of Shah Rukh Khan. Speaking to Janta Ka Reporter’s editor-in-chief Rifat Jawaid in 2013 at his house in Birmingham, Malala’s father, Ziauddin Yusufzai had said that it was Malala’s dream to meet Shah Rukh. Malala was in school then.
