Anushka Sharma faces more ‘garbage’ taunts on after she posts new video

There does not seem to be any respite for actor Anushka Sharma on social media after her cricketer husband Virat Kohli famously posted a video of her scolding a man in Mumbai for littering the road.

Aside from being condemned for publicly shaming a man, the couple has also been sent a legal notice by Arhhan Singh, the man in the viral littering video. Neither Virat nor Anushka has commented on the legal notice, but Anushka has had a tough time on Instagram lately after she posted couple of social media posts.

In the first video of her new collection Nush, Anushka had faced vicious trolling with most users disparagingly addressing her as the ‘garbage lady.’ Two days later, when she posted a photo of her, her angry fans returned even more aggression and threatened to unfollow her.

On Sunday, the popular actor posted a new video of her style collection, only to be met with another round of trolling. The sentiment was the same even as the comments targeting her became nastier. One user Shruti wrote, “You love garbage so much that you decided to have a clothing line keeping “garbage” as a theme in your mind.” Another user Antriksh taunted, “That boy from the garbage video has filed a case against you. Now you can also fly out of India just like Vijay Mallya.”

Of course there were some fans who defended her while responding to her critics, but her detractors appeared to have outnumbered Anushka’s supporters.

The controversy had started after Virat posted a video of Anushka scolding Singh for allegedly throwing a piece of plastic on the road.

The video had gone viral even though there was no evidence to suggest that the man, identified as Arhhan Singh, had committed a crime deserving of such public shaming. Both Anushka and Virat faced incessant trolling prompting Singh and his mother Gittanjali Elizabeth to post two hard-hitting responses.

Elizabeth had written, “How dare you crush somebody’s image/and morale and reputation and expose him to public hate, a boy who is on the verge of starting his ventures, ..just to prove what good citizens you both are to increase your fan following? How dare you?? If you both really cared or bothered about cleanliness, then you would actively do something about all the garbage in your own lane.. You would make a noise and use your VOICE to urge the municipal authorities to take action atleast in the lane where you live, to start with, which you haven’t.

Posting videos of fake bravado just to fool your followers. If your intention was genuine then you would pull over and politely correct the person for littering IF THEY DID in a decent and real manner… and not by displaying such a rude and arrogant attitude, and then posting it for the world to see! You have caused a lot of grief with your post & this is morally and humanitarianly very wrong.”
