KP Gosavi, whose selfie with Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan had gone viral immediately after the NCB raided a Goa-bound cruise ship on 2 October, has been arrested in Pune. His detention took place days after he expressed his desire to surrender before the UP Police, which reports to Yogi Adityanath.
According to news agency PTI, Pune Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta said on Thursday that they had arrested Gosavi in connection with the 2018 cheating case registered against him.
Gosavi, according to the report, was arrested from a lodge in Katraj area in Pune by the Pune police at 3 AM, and he will produced in a court following the due procedure.
Gupta told reporters, “There was a case of cheating in Pune city in 2018 in which Gosavi was the main accused.”
A charge sheet in the case was filed in 2019, he said.
An NCB witness, identified as Prabhakar Sail, has made serious allegations against Gosavi in an affidavit. According to Sail, he had Gosavi talk about the extortion money related to the arrest of Shah Rukh Khan’s son, adding that Rs. 8 crores was meant to be given to NCB Zonal Director Sameer Dawood Wankhede. Wankhede has denied allegations of extortion.
Gosavi was seen standing in close proximity with Wankhede on the night of the raids. He was later seen taking selfie with Aryan Khan at the NCB office before sitting next to Shah Rukh Khan’s son with a mobile phone.
His unprecedented access to NCB and its officers had raised questions on the integrity of the anti-drugs agency.
