Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday registered an emphatic seven-wicket victory against Mumbai Indians in the ongoing IPL competition.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians made 155-6 in 20 overs with Quinton de Kock making 55 in 42 balls. Rohit Sharma, who returned to lead Mumbai Indians, could only contribute with 33 runs that he took 30 balls to score.
Lockie Ferguson and Prasidh Krishna shared two wickets each while Sunil Narine dismissed one MI batsman.
The run chase by Kolkata Knight Riders was electric as they achieved the target by losing just three wickets with 29 balls to spare. Rahul Tripathi remained unbeaten at 74, while Venkatesh Iyer made 53 in 30 balls. Tripathi’s knock of 74, which included eight fours and three sixes, came in just 42 balls.
All three KKR wickets were picked up by Jasprit Bumrah, who finished with a spell of 43-3 in four overs.
With today’s victory, Kolkata Knight Riders have jumped to the fourth position in the points table, while the Mumbai Indians now find themselves at sixth. This was the second consecutive win for the team from Koolkata. As for Mumbai Indians, they’ve now lost their last two games in a row.
