India’s ‘Ex-coach Kabir Khan’ has sent a special message to the Indian women’s hockey team after they created history in Tokyo Olympics by beating Australia to reach the semi-final for the first time.
Shah Rukh Khan, who played the character of coach Kabir Khan in the Bollywood blockbuster Chak De India, took to Twitter to write, “Haan haan no problem. Just bring some Gold on your way back….for a billion family members. This time Dhanteras is also on 2nd Nov. From: Ex-coach Kabir Khan.”
Shah Rukh’s message was in response to the current coach of the Indian women’s hockey team, Sjoerd Marijne, who shared a photo of himself with the members of the hockey team and wrote, “Sorry family , I coming again later.”

India on Monday created history by defeating Australians 1-0 in the quarter-final. Many netizens felt that Shah Rukh Khan’s character, Kabir Khan, in Chak De India had played a huge role in popularising the sport amongst women in India. In the film, Shah Rukh’s on-screen character was responsible for leading a bunch of disorganised and highly unprofessional women for international glory. Curiously, even in the film, the Indian women’s team had defeated Australians to win the finals.
