India mourn tragic death of actor Puneeth Rajkumar

The tragic death of popular actor Puneeth Rajkumar has left fans and colleagues stunned. The 46-year-old actor died after suffering a heart attack. He was taken to Vikram Hospital in Bengaluru in an unresponsive condition on Friday morning.

News agency ANI tweeted, “Actor Puneeth Rajkumar was admitted after suffering chest pain at 11.30 am. Trying our best to treat him. His condition is serious. Can’t say anything as of now. His condition was bad when brought to hospital, treatment on in ICU: Dr Ranganath Nayak, Vikram Hospital, Bengaluru.”

News agency PTI reported that Rajkumar reportedly complained of chest pain following which he was rushed to the hospital.

Industrialist Naveen Jindal tweeted, “Tragic news. Condolences to his family, friends, loved ones and fans. May his soul attain sadgati, Om Shanti.”

Legendary Malayalam actor Mammootty tweeted, “Shocking and Heart breaking to know that Puneeth is no more. It is a huge loss for the film fraternity. My deepest condolences to Puneeth’s family and loved ones.”

Actor Dalquer Salman wrote on Twitter, “One of the kindest and warmest Actors/gentlemen. Praying to the almighty to give Puneeth Sirs family, friends and his ocean of fans the strength to cope with this irreplaceable loss.”

Actor Tamannaah Bhatia tweeted, “Shocked, saddened and in loss of words.”

Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran tweeted, “This hurts so much! Rest in peace superstar! May the family, friends and the millions of fans have the strength to tide through this sorrow!”

Rajkumar began his career in the lead role with film Appu in 2002. The film became a huge commercial hit. His fans later began to fondly call him Appu. He acted in as many as 29 films including Mourya, Arasu, Raam and Anjani Putra.

He is survived by his wife Ashwini Revanth and two children. His elder brother, Shiva Rajkumar, is also a very popular actor.
