‘Wonder Woman’ Tina Dabi delivers her first TEDx talk, posts video of speech

When IAS topper Tina Dabi announced that she was going to deliver her first ever TEDx speech, the announcement had caused quite a backlash on internet as people once again targeted her for her background.

While many alleged that Tina’s success followed by stardom was due to her caste as a Dalit, others had complained about the exorbitant ticket prices of the TEDx event, being organised at Delhi’s Hansraj College.

Unaffected by the negativity, Tina went ahead and delivered her first-ever TEDx speech on 1 September. Dressed in red kurta and white palazzo pants, the young IAS officer looked like a style icon as she shared her experiences of cracking the civil services exam with aplomb.

Although TEDx will upload the video later, Tina uploaded a couple of short clips of her speech as part of her Isnta story on Instagram, where she has amassed close to two lakh followers. In the video posted by her, Tina is heard informing her audience on how she would remain ‘neck-deep with books’ during her preparation for the IAS exam, while constantly going through newspapers, magazines and notes to keep herself abreast of the goings on.

Tina later posted a screenshot of someone else’s post, which described her a wonder woman with a sailor’s mouth. The IAS officer replied with a caption, “Wow, Thanks.”

This may have been Tina’s first TEDx talk but she has done her share of public speaking in her relatively short career as a civil servant since joining the central government’s Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises of Government of India as an assistant secretary.

Not too long ago, a video of Tina delivering her first speech at the President’s House had surfaced. In the video, she was seen confidently sharing her experiences about undergoing the IAS training since cracking the UPSC exams in 2016.

Tina is married to Athar Aamir Khan, who secured the second ranking in the 2016 UPSC exams. Their wedding earlier this year had become quite a high-profile event as several big names including Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad attended their reception in Delhi.
