Platforms owned by social media giant Facebook were reported to be down in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Many users complained that they were not able to post anything on Facebook as the error message read, “There was a problem with updating your status. Please try again in a few minutes.”

Users encountered similar problems while accessing Instagram and WhatsApp, both platforms owned by Facebook. Soon, users took to Facebook’s rival platform Twitter to inquire on the update.

Facebook did not comment on the reason for the disruption in service, but WhatsApp was restored around 3 AM IST.
