Former singer Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, who once earned notoriety for mocking the Azaan, has now sensationally admitted that she faced rape threats both for herself and her daughter despite being an ardent fan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Suchitra, who’s known for her bigotry and hatred for Muslims, was responding to a tweet posted by filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who had tagged Modi to inform him about a rape threat issued to his daughter by one BJP supporter. Suchitra took to twitter to express her displeasure on Kashyap’s decision to tag Modi.
While chiding Kashyap for tagging Modi, Suchitra informed that she too had faced rape threats despite being a Modi supporter. She wrote, “Dear @anuragkashyap72 I have been openly pro #Modi & yet have often rcvd rape threats for my daughter & even myself when controversy has erupted. I have done what a right thinking citizen must do ie complained to #MumbaiPolice & #cybercrime cell. NOT tag #PM!!! Whats ur point?”

Although, Suchitra’s confession made it clear that most rape threats on social media came from BJP supporters, Kashyap sought to clarify the intention behind tagging Modi as he wrote, “Point is – one statement from him that he does not endorse hatemongers will shut them up.”
He found plenty of support from former bureaucrats and other experts. Former diplomat KC Singh wrote, “Not that PM has smart phone in his palm. It’s some JS in PMO who monitor the social media feed. Let them be in the loop.” User Manjeet Singh Bajwa, whose Twitter bio describes him as a national security expert, wrote, “Why not? Shouldn’t he get to know what goes on in his name?”
Later, Suchitra congratulated Kashyap for having filed a police complaint against the person who had issued the rape threat to his daughter last week. Faced with public condemnation, one Chowkidar Ramsanghi has now deleted his Twitter account.
