Filmmaker Ketan Mehta to donate share of profits to Manjhi’s village

Director Ketan Mehta, who is overwhelmed with the response of his upcoming movie-Manjhi- The Mountain Man‘s trailer, is planning to donate a share of the film’s profits to Dashrath Manjhi’s village in Bihar.

Affirming to the news, the filmmaker said, “Definitely a percentage of the profits will go to Manjhi’s village, Gehlaur.”

Mehta’s upcoming movie is a biopic on Dashrath Manjhi, who worked tirelessly for 22 years and carved a path through a mountain just by using a hammer and chisel. His ultimate motive of ripping apart a mountain was to create a road to ease travel woes of villagers.

Talking about the trailer’s response, Mehta said, “The response has been overwhelming. Nawaz is being liked immensely. The surprise with ‘Manjhi’ film though has been that the youth have surprisingly connected with the film. People have watched the promo on YouTube and the response has been quite encouraging and enthusiastic.”

The role of the protagonist is played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film also stars Radhika Apte of Ahalya fame and is scheduled to release on August 21, 2015.
