Fashion battle of cricketers’ wives: Anushka Sharma has new competition from Sanjana Ganesan as Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah sweat it out for World Test Championship

Wives of India’s top cricketers appear to have begun competing with each other in making a fashion statement as their respective husbands sweat it out for the World Test Championship, scheduled to start on 19 June in England. First, it was Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma, who flaunted her photo from the Southampton cricket stadium immediately after arriving in England. Not to be left far behind, Jasprit Bumrah’s newly-married wife Sanjana Ganesan has emulated Anushka’s act by flaunted her own photo from the hotel balcony at The Ageas Bowl stadium, where the Indian team is quarantining themselves with their family members.

Sharing her photo from the hotel balcony, Anushka had written, “Don’t bring work home isn’t going to be applicable for Virat for sometime. ???? #QuarantineAtTheStadium.”

Days later, Sanjana too shared a similar photo of herself with a caption that read, “weats, sunshine & smiles.” In the photo, Sanjana could be seen posing for the camera in an athleisure outfit. Athleisure refers to athletic apparel which people can wear in non-athletic settings. It was seen, for a long time, as casual clothing designed to be worn both for exercising and for general use.

Both Sanjana and Jasprit Bumrah tied the knot in March this year.

The BCCI had successfully negotiated a deal with the British government to do away with its mandatory 10-day quarantine in a government-approved hotel after arriving in the UK. Not only did the UK government do away with its rule to allow family members to accompany the cricketers, but the mandatory 10-day quarantine in a government-approved hotel was also removed for Indian cricketers.

Such relaxations are not even extended to British nationals or residents by the government.
