Family members of Lata Mangeshkar have taken to social media to counter rumours about the health of the famous singer. This was after Union Minister Smriti Irani urged people to not pay heed to any rumours surrounding Mangeshkar’s health.
A message posted from the famous singer’s official Twitter account read, “Heartfelt request for the disturbing speculation to stop. Update from Dr Pratit Samdani, Breach Candy Hospital. Lata Didi is showing positive signs of improvement from earlier and is under treatment in the ICU. We look forward and pray for her speedy healing and homecoming.”

Mangeshkar had tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month, leading to her hospitalisation in Mumbai. However, lately rumours over his health began to dominate platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter.
Earlier Union Minister Smriti Irani too took to social media to write, “Request from Lata Didi’s family to not spread rumours. She is responding well to treatment and god willing will return home soon. Let us avoid speculation & continue to pray for Lata Didi’s speedy recovery and wellbeing.”

Mangeshkar’s career as a singer spanned over seven decades. Some of her famous songs included Aye Mere Watan Ke Logon, Ye Galiyan Yo Chaubara, Aaj Phir Jeene Ki Tamanna hai, Lag Jaa Gale and Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham among others.
