The Election Commission on Saturday directed the East Delhi Returning Officer to file an FIR against BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate Gautam Gambhir for poll violation. Gambhir had allegedly held a road show in his East Delhi parliamentary constituency without obtaining permission.
Taking a dig at the filing of FIR, AAP’s East Delhi candidate, Atishi, tweeted, “”First, Discrepancies in nomination papers. Then, Criminal offence of having 2 voter IDs. Now, FIR for illegal rally. My question to @GautamGambhir: When you don’t know the rules, why play the game? (sic)”

According to sources, East Delhi DM, K Mahesh, has already directed the police to register an FIR against Gambhir.
Gambhir will be seen locking horns with Atishi and the Congress’ Arvinder Singh Lovely in the parliamentary polls, scheduled for 12 May.
A known supporter of the BJP, Gambhir had formally joined the saffron party earlier this month before he was announced as the BJP’s candidate from East Delhi.
Atishi had earlier lodged a formal complaint alleging that Gambhir held two voter ids and demanded his disqualification.
