Condolences have poured in for actor Arvind Trivedi, who famously played the popular character of Ravan in Ramanand Sagar’s TV series Ramayan in the 80s. Trivedi, who died of a heart attack was aged 82.
Trivedi’s nephew, Kaustubh Trivedi told ETimes, “He was not keeping well for quite some time, but today he suffered a heart attack and that led to multi-organ failure.”
His former co-star, Dipika Chikhlia, wrote on Instagram, “My heart felt condolences to his family …a very fine human being ????#arvindtrivedi #ravan.”

Dipika had played the character of Sita in Ramayan in which Trivedi’s character had kidnapped her, triggering full-blown between him and Sita’s husband, Ram, which was played by Arun Govil.
Sunil Lahri, who had played the character of Laxman in Ramayan, said, ““Bahut dukhad Samachar hai ki Hamare Sabke Pyare Arvind bhai (Ravan of Ramayan) Ab Hamare bich Nahin Rahe Bhagwan Unki Atma ko Shanti De…I am speechless I lost father figure my guide well wisher & gentleman…”

Govil took to Twitter to write in Hindi saying that the world had lost a great human being.
आध्यात्मिक रूप से रामावतार का कारण और सांसारिक रूप से एक बहुत ही नेक,धार्मिक, सरल स्वभावी इंसान और मेरे अतिप्रिय मित्र अरविंद त्रिवेदी जी को आज मानव समाज ने खो दिया। नि:संदेह वे सीधे परमधाम जाएंगे और भगवान श्रीराम का सानिध्य पाएंगे।????????

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “We have lost Shri Arvind Trivedi, who was not only an exceptional actor but also was passionate about public service. For generations of Indians, he will be remembered for his work in the Ramayan TV serial. Condolences to the families and admirers of both actors. Om Shanti.”
Trivedi’s acting career lasted for over three decades during which he also acted in Vikram Aur Betaal besides appearing in Gujarati films such as Desh Re Joya Dada Pardesh Joya. Trivedi was also a Member of Parliament between 1991 and 1996.
His last rites were reported performed in Mumbai on Wednesday.
