Chennai Super Kings’ decision to buy a young bowler from Sri Lanka has made the IPL franchise from the southern Indian state a prime target of attack from fans, who’ve taken to Twitter to trend #Boycott_ChennaiSuperKings. This was after the CSK bought young Sri Lankan bowler Maheesh Theekshana for Rs. 70 lakh.
Sharing a photo of Maheesh Theekshana, the official Twitter handle of Chennai Super Kings tweeted, “Maheesh into the #Yellove fam! #SuperAuction#WhistlePodu.”
The decision left fans enraged as they argued that the bowler was a Sri Lankan with Sinhalese background and there must not be a place for him in an IPL team owned by Tamils.
One fan wrote, “From the Buddhist country that has an unofficial policy of torturing & killing TN fisherman, raping and torturing SriLankan tamil protestors,
and taking away the lands of SL Tamils till date. #Boycott_ChennaiSuperKings.”
Another fan wrote, “Pakistanis are banned from IPL cause they are (north)”India’s enemies”. but Tamil’s enemies the SL state uses these sports to whitewash its crimes in international stage ,,and idiots don’t care! Now taking in a player even inside CSK! While no Tamils!”

When you understand Pak players not being allowed in IPL,
You should also understand Tamils not wanting SriLankan players in Tamil Nadu.

Maheesh Theekshana had a base price of Rs. 20 lakh but was bought by Chennai Super Kings bought for Rs. 70 lakh other teams also showed interests in him.
Tamil fans of the CSK are angry over the inclusion of a Sinhalese player since Sri Lanka’s Sinhalese soldiers were responsible for committing war crimes against Tamils during their military action against the LTTE in 2009.
