Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Sunday faced intense social media roasting for seeking to draw humour by a tweet on the Congress party. His tweet has made him a target of incessant trolling with many observing that his tweet was unbecoming of a career diplomat.
While sharing the photo of a conference hall sign written in Italian, Puri wrote, “This is what they call a ‘Conference Room’ in Italian. Interestingly, it also has its back against the wall!”

While many condemned Puri for his ‘distasteful’ tweet, others reminded the minister that Sala Congressi in Italian meant ‘Conjference Hall.’
User Sonia Minocha wrote, “Sir, you are a Union Minister and have been a diplomat as well. Unfortunate that a person at such a position will share this on public platform. Please set standards of your office. Best wishes!”
Dibyendu Mondal wrote, “With due respect, Its very distasteful sir and an unbecoming of a former diplomat as well as a current union minister.” User Surjeet Kumar Sahdev asked, “And how many years of your tenure as a diplomat was under “Congressi”. ?? Sir…”
Journalist Abhishek Baxi wrote, “Does BJP do this to you? A fine career diplomat and a respected minister’s ‘humor’ takes a dip.” User Jayanta Das wrote, “Instead of this kind of petty fun we would hv loved u 2 share sum constructive developments abt #SavejetAirways for which we all hv been waiting for months now. Its ur responsibility Sir. Plz show us some character. @narendramodi_in @narendramodi”
