Police have arrested two men in connection with this horrific crime taking place in the remote part of Panchkula. The complainant alleged that she was able to escape the clutches of her tormentors only after four days.

According to the victim, as reported by Mirro Now, she was held captive inside the government guest house for days as 40 men kept brutalising her. A report by Mirror Now said that Chandigarh Police had registered a case against the manager of the government guest house and other unknown people. The location of the government guest house was Morni, Panchkula, Haryana. It was situated in an isolated area.

Meanwhile, girl’s medical examination has been done and the tests have confirmed a gang-rape. Under pressure from media, the cops have also recorded her statement before magistrate.

“We have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC on a complaint from the victim and arrested two persons. Investigation is on,” Ranjit Singh, SHO of the police station was quoted by The Hindu.

The victim was reportedly taken to the guesthouse by one of the two arrested persons on the pretext of finding her a job as a maid. After she managed to contact the cops to file a complaint, they allegedly acted with insensitivity and refused to register her complaint saying that the guest house in question did not fall in their jurisdiction area. The victim was later asked to contact the Chandigarh Police, where she filed the complaint in Manimajra Police Station.

Jawahar Yadav, a BJP leader and a close aide of Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar told Mirror Now that the government had suspended at least two police officers for their insensitivity towards a rape victim.

Haryana records the most number of gang-rapes in the country. A report by National Crime Records Bureau said earlier this year that there 1187 cases of rapes in Harayan in 2016, of them 191 were gang-rape victims taking the percentage to 1.5%, which is five times higher than the national average.
