A benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Monday tanked 469.89 points or 1.79 percent during the morning session.
Monday was the first day after the results of the Bihar assembly were declared, with RJD and JD(U) registering a landslide win over the BJP.
The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading 142.05 points (1.79 percent) down at 7,812.25 points.
The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 25,809 points, was trading at 25,795.35 points at 9.21 a.m. in the early session, down 469.89 points (1.79 percent) from the previous day’s close at 26,265.24 points.
The Sensex touched a high of 25,816.26 points and a low of 25,656.90 points in the trade so far.
