The Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said on Sunday that his government was writing to the high court-constituted SIT probing the Vyapam recruitment scam to thoroughly investigate the death of TV scribe Akshay Singh, reports PTI.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Chauhan said, “It is very unfortunate. Our condolences are with his family…We are writing to the SIT with a request to carry out a thorough investigation.”
Chouhan added that his government had no objection if the MP High Court got the probe into the scam done by any other agency, including CBI, a demand made by Congress.
Meanwhile, the Centre said that a “very fair inquiry” should be conducted to put to rest all doubts over the mysterious death of the TV journalist.
Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, “Since various issues are being raised with respect to the circumstances of this death, it would be absolutely important that a very fair inquiry is held so that all doubts can be put to rest,” said.
Elsewhere, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi too expressed his condolence to the family of Akshay Singh.
