A woman was executed in eastern Syria for criticizing the IS terrorist group in a conversation on WhatsApp messenger group, a monitoring group said.

The 22-year-old woman was put to death in Khasham town after Islamic State fighters claimed to discover the WhatsApp message sent from her mobile to her brother.

The woman’s brother is a member of the Asoud al-Sharqiyya Army rebel group.

IS arrested the woman two months ago, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

IS has executed at least 95 women in the past 14 months after charging them with various crimes against its self-proclaimed caliphate, according to the Britain-based watchdog.
